Drone Flyover Shows Sneak Peek of Apple Spaceship HQ

Published: 2015-09-18

Apple‘s Spaceship Campus is taking shape, with a drone flyover showcasing the building site that will one day house 13,000 employees. Filmed using a DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter, the footage showcases the construction progress in the last 31 days.

The video is a follow-on from a video filmed by the same person on August 1. Unlike the last video, this time around the footage is using narration from former Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ remarks at a Cupertino City Council meeting about the construction project.

Steve Jobs revealed the project, but passed away in 2011, unable to see his vision come to pass.

FEATURED REPORT

The campus is reported to cost Apple $5 billion to build and was designed by architectural firm Foster + Partners. Construction is scheduled to be complete at some time next year. As the footage shows, construction is proceeding nicely.

There are still factors that will be tricky to implement however, such as the building’s desire to be a net-zero energy facility – generating 100% of its power from renewable energy sources.
