What Will You Do Now to Make Your AV Business Better in the Future?

Published: November 6, 2019

If you were one of the lucky ones to be included on this year’s guest list for the 2019 Total Tech Summit in Fort Worth, Texas, your head is probably spinning a little bit at this point. You’ve probably got about 100 ideas of what you can bring back to the office and do to make your business better in 2020. [related]

And, although I’m not in New Orleans for the 2019 AV Executive Conference, I’m sure the speakers at that event are giving CI associate editor Zach Comeau a new appreciation for the challenges business leaders face in trying to decide which of the ideas they hear at industry conferences are best for them.

That’s often the biggest challenge attendees face when they head home from an intensive couple of days filled with success stories of business and leaders who they know have made a name for themselves and their companies: there’s too much good information to implement everything.

And, really, you shouldn’t try to implement everything because it’s not all going to work in your company anyway. The key isn’t to go into the CEO’s office when you get home from a conference and to spew all the information you’ve learned and say it’s time for your business to try it all.

Sifting Through the Nuggets of Total Tech Summit Business Wisdom

It’s much more important to single out a handful of the best ideas you hear at these events that are the most likely to work for your particular company at this particular time.

If you try to make all the changes you hear at most of these shows, you’ll never have time to run the day-to-day business as it is and you might never know what direction you’re headed anyway.

So instead of rattling off every idea from every speaker, try to focus on which ideas or which speakers said the most things that made you think the longest about why you’re not yet doing what he or she said they did to make their business the booming success you hope to one day be too.

We’re a couple of months away from resolution time but it’s never too early to get started on transforming your business. Just remember: you can’t do it all and you probably shouldn’t try.
