Ideal Networks VDV II Cable Verifiers Identify Wiring Errors

Published: 2015-01-29

It doesn’t matter if it is a home with a few smart devices and a computer or two, or a sprawling commercial network with hundreds of computers, peripherals and other devices — reliable network connectivity is extremely important.

Helping dealers to ensure reliable network connectivity is the Sycamore, Ill.-based manufacturer Ideal Networks. Adding to its line of network testing devices, the Midwestern company has announced its new VDV II series of cable verifiers.

Through the use of these testing products Ideal says dealers can identify wiring errors that include opens, shorts, reverses, miswiring and split pairs that can negatively affect network performance.

Engineered to ergonomically fit in users’ hands, the VDV II series incorporate RJ11/RJ12 (voice), RJ45 (data) and F-Type coaxial (video) connectors to allow dealers to test a variety of low-voltage cable runs.

All three products within the line—the VDV II, VDV II Plus and VDV II Pro—incorporate wire mapping, as well as features such as a 2.9-inch display with backlighting, hub blink, cable length measurement and distance-to-open capabilities.

In addition, the products display important network connectivity information without having to use a PC. According to Ideal Networks, the testers detect the presence of specific service types such as ISDN, PBX and PoE (power over Ethernet) to produce faster troubleshooting results.
