Collaboration Squared earned $10,000 and will have free booth space at InfoComm 2016 after winning the first InfoComm Innovations Showcase in Orlando last month. The company earned the distinction by getting the most votes among the 20 companies inside the pavilion, impressing visitors with its Ubiety Room cloud-based collaboration and conferencing tool.
“The InfoComm Innovations Showcase was an incredible event for us, with great foot traffic, very qualified prospects and the opportunity to conduct more than 150 live customer demos in three days,” said Collaboration Squared CEO Daryl Hutchings in an InfoComm International press release announcing the voting results.
“To be chosen as the winner of the inaugural Innovations Showcase award means the world to us. We feel privileged to be voted best by attendees among 20 incredible competitors. The greatest part is being invited back to InfoComm next year and the validation of our unique cloud videoconferencing service to the market,” Hutchings says.
The Ubiety Room software-based videoconferencing system allows users to connect up to 25 participants through their mobile devices, tablets or laptop or desktop computers. The technology gives users the ability to turn any room into a videoconferencing area.

Collaboration Squared emerged from a fierce competition that saw all exhibitors actively imploring booth visitors to vote for them as winner of the Innovations Showcase. Information about the total number of votes isn’t available but anecdotal evidence showed a steady flow of traffic in the Showcase pavilion, despite its location outside the main flow of show traffic.
“Seeing new groundbreaking audiovisual products is the leading reason professionals attend InfoComm each year,” said InfoComm senior VP of expositions Jason McGraw in InfoComm’s announcement. “It is wonderful to have a company like Collaboration Squared capturing the imagination of InfoComm’s attendees. We also offer congratulations to the participating companies for making InfoComm a more innovative communications marketplace.”
Among the other offerings within the Innovations Showcase that attracted a lot of eyeballs was the Tech Dryer, which helps to save a wet phone or tablet from becoming nothing more than a coaster, with a one-way membrane in and out and a desiccate that removes 80 percent of the moisture within eight hours.
