Ahead of ISC East, Axis Communications unveiled a slew of new additions to its video surveillance portfolio. This includes the AXIS P37 Panoramic Camera Series, AXIS Q18 Bullet Camera Series and AXIS P3268-SLVE Dome Camera, all of which will come equipped with a deep learning processing unit (DLPU).
All these technologies, according to Axis, will be on display at ISC East 2023 at the Javits Center in New York City from November 14-16, 2023. For those who will be unable to attend the show, however, Axis has stated that these new solutions can be demoed at any one of its Axis Experience Centers (AEC), including the New York City AEC, 12 East 49th Street, Floor 42.
Axis Panoramic Camera Series
Starting off with the AXIS P37 Panoramic Camera Series, compact cameras are capable of being recessed mounted or mounted in ceilings with up to 4*4K resolution on recordings. The cameras also come with tamper-resistant casing and integrated IP66-/IP67-rated weather shield, meaning their protected against most outdoor weather such as rain and snow.
Axis Bullet Cameras
Axis’s bullet cameras, such as the AXIS Q1805-LE and AXIS Q1806-LE, offer image quality in 2 MP and 4 MP respectively. According to Axis, the cameras can show sharp and clear footage in complete darkness up to 100 m (328 ft) while also being able to deliver clear detail and colors in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. They can also handle temperatures from -40 °C to 60 °C (-40 °F to 140 °F).
Dome Cameras
The AXIS P3268-SLVE Dome Camera comes enclosed in a marine-grade, stainless steel casing, and is DNV-certified, meaning it is able to stand up to the corrosive effects of seawater and cleaning chemicals making it more ideal for harsh environments. It’s also certified by NSF/ANSI to Standard 169 (Special Purpose Food Equipment and Devices) for use in food processing facilities.
Axis Deep Learning Processing Unit (DLPU)
A running theme throughout these products however is that they’re all built on ARTPEC-8 and feature a deep learning processing unit (DLPU) which Axis states eliminates the need for expensive servers and allows for a faster and more scalable system when installing.
These cameras are also able to run metadata and AXIS Object Analytics streams on multiple channels to detect and classify people and vehicles, for instance, entering a user-defined area.
Axis Video Recorders
Additionally, Axis has announced two video recorders that can be used in single-site and multi-site systems, as well as for expanding storage and network in existing systems.
The AXIS S3008 Mk II Recorder comes with an integrated PoE switch for up to 8 PoE Class 3 devices and provides reliable recording thanks to its surveillance-grade hard drive. It also offers gigabit uplink for video recordings in ultra-high definition.
The AXIS S3016 Recorder meanwhile offers an integrated PoE switch for up to 16 devices and a maximum of PoE class 4 per port while providing a gigabit switch for connecting network devices and a 2.5 gigabit uplink for video recordings in ultra-high definition.
Axis has also announced it will be updating its Objects Analytics solution alongside the release of its deep-learning video cameras. The updates include a new Crossline feature that counts objects that cross a virtual tripwire in a defined direction and Occupancy feature that allows the user to define an area to count selected objects, providing an estimate of occupancy levels in real-time.
Axis at ISC East
Each of these new solutions will be demoed, along with more of Axis’ latest products, at ISC East, booth #711. Both the AXIS Panoramic Camera series and Objects Analytics updates will be available in November 2023 while the bullet cameras, dome camera and recorders will all be available in December 2023.
The news of these deep learning and analytics offerings come following a conversation CE Pro, CI’s sister site, had with Axis earlier this year discussing the potential for AI and other new technology in residential and commercial video surveillance solutions.
