During InfoComm 2025 last month, Commercial Integrator chatted with Gary Plavin of LAIA Technologies about the company’s growth. Plavin, president of LAIA Technologies North America, boasts a strong history of bringing international brands to prominence in the United States. LAIA is, of course, a company with Spanish roots. Offering an update since his last chat with CI at ISE 2025, Plavin discusses two key new products, his rapidly expanding North American team and why he describes LAIA as “a software company that makes cameras.”
LAIA Technologies InfoComm 2025 Highlights
At InfoComm, LAIA Technologies highlighted multiple new products. “We’re bringing out an upper end camera bar called the UP Infinity,” Plavin explains, “which has 10x zoom [and] that’s got an awful lot of intelligence and integration capabilities in the bar itself.” He continues, “It’s giving you just an image that’s unlike anything that’s been on the market before.”
At the same time, Plavin says, LAIA Technologies is introducing the Broadcaster Pro, which boasts a larger one-and-one-eighth-inch chip. As he describes it, “It’s NDI HX3 with Dante, and you can get them with fiber and non-fiber configurations.” Indeed, Plavin emphasizes that the Broadcaster Pro is very flexible with its interface.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Plavin highlights the key team members who are driving LAIA to success in North America. These include George “Red” Fournier as director of technology, George Meglio as head of business development, Kristin Ford managing sales on the west coast and Jennifer Weaver focusing on higher education and other vertical specialty markets. “We’ve got a terrific team started,” Plavin enthuses. “And we’re bringing on more.”
Later in the chat, CI asks Plavin what makes him most optimistic about LAIA Technologies and its future in North America. He cites the ease of software integration, which, he says, “…saves so much money and so much time in deploying a system.”
