Opticomm-Emcore GBOX Series Transmits 4K via Fiber & HDBaseT

The 2014 InfoComm Show is gearing up to be a very large event for the Alhambra, Calif.-based manufacturer Opticomm-Emcore.

The Skinny: At the upcoming show, the California company is set to show several new product lines. The latest product line to be announced by Opticomm-Emcore is its GBOX Series of 4K UHD Extenders.

The Specs: At its booth (C7716) Opticomm-Emcore will demonstrate the GBOX Series of products by setting up a four-panel video wall that shows the products’ ability to support resolutions as high as 3840×2160.

Opticomm-Emcore explains that it developed the GBOX line of products to provide dealers with a choice of solutions that support fiber and HDBaseT technologies, and it notes, the line of transmitters and receivers also support USB 2.0 to allow dealers to integrate external hard drives and other devices such as KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) extensions.

The California manufacturer adds that the fiber options are capable of delivering signals as far as six miles over single-mode fiber or 1,000 feet over multimode fiber. The HDBaseT products support connectivity up to distances of 100 meters.

Solutions: Opticomm-Emcore says the GBOX products can be used for a variety of A/V installations, including command and control applications via the fiber products.
