Powersoft D-CELL504 Holds Booming AccuGroove Cabinets Steady

The newly-reformed musical instrument brand AccuGroove and its founder Marc Wright spent two years and $50,000 worth of research and development before Wright discovered the Powersoft D-CELL504 module to serve the company’s guitar and bass cabinets. [related]

Wright’s goal throughout the R&D process was to develop self-powered cabinets that performed like studio monitors.

“We had wanted to do powered cabinets for 15 years but couldn’t find a product that would meet our standards — until we discovered Powersoft,” says Wright.

Wright needed a solution that could output multichannel and DSP functions to address crossover and tuning, and the Powersoft D-CELL504 module met those demands.

Powersoft says that AccuGroove cabinets utilize its D-CELL504 DSP Armonia software to create crossovers that divide the input signal three to four ways, sending each frequency range to an individual speaker within the cabinet.

A lot of manufacturers use DSP to make an average cabinet sound better, but we use the DSP to make an already great cabinet sound truly stellar,” explains Wright.

Powersoft Also Provides Muscle for AccuGroove Cabinets

In addition to the DSP options that the Powersoft D-CELL504 provides AccuGroove cabinets, the company’s amplification delivers an improved level of playback performance.

Wright says Powersoft’s amplification produces high levels of transparency.

“When we heard the Powersoft it was like, ‘oh my god, someone took the veil off,'” he says. “It had amazing clarity without being sterile.”

Through the pairing of the Powersoft CELL504 module, which puts out 2 x 350 watts, and the AccuGroove full-range cabinets, the guitar and bass products are able to pair with direct boxes, studio preamps and modeling preamps.

Wright adds that Powersoft has also supported AccuGroove as an OEM partner, which he appreciates.

“They’ve been amazing to work with,” notes Wright. “I always get a prompt response from them if I need something, which makes things easy for me as a manufacturer. They’ve really pulled out the stops for us.”
