Bittree 12G Video Distribution Amplifiers Save Rack Space

Expanding its product line to offer solutions beyond its selection of patchbay products, the new Bittree 12G Video Distribution Amplifiers were recently introduced.

The 40-year-old company says that its latest products are designed for streamlining growing signal distribution requirements into a lightweight, high-density modular form factor that supports data rates as high as 12GB/s for the management of 4K UHD signals.

“Traditionally, video engineers would need to take an output from their distribution amplifier and send it to an entire separate rack of equipment that they built to provide test points,” explains Bryan Carpenter, senior sales consultant, Bittree.

“The half-normalling ability provides a dedicated test point with the DABFX cards eliminating the need for that rack build, which in turn minimizes cabling and consumes fewer outputs that could be used for other purposes.”

Configuration Choices for 12G Video Distribution Amplifiers

Bittree offers the new line of products in a choice of a coaxial model and a hybrid model that provides coax and SMPTE ST 2110-compliant network connectivity options.

The products feature 2RU frames with a minimum of 1×4 DA cards. Each frame accommodates up to 32 one-input/four output distribution amplifier modules to provide high levels of signal density from a small footprint component.

“Distribution amplifiers are a natural extension of our video infrastructure portfolio and a perfect complement to our highly acclaimed 12G+ patchbays,” comments Ari Baron, general manager, Bittree.

“Customers and systems integrators can now build complete 12G systems that combine coax, fiber and IP network connectivity with robust patching and distribution functionality, all with Bittree’s renowned reliability and support.”

Bittree says integrators can choose from these solutions:

  • The DAF32X frames combine DABX cards, with each card offering a single input and four outputs with DIN 1.0/2.3 connectors on the rear of the module. The cards are compliant with SMPTE 259M, 292M, 344M, 424M, ST2081-1 and ST2082-1 that support data rates as high as 12GB/s, and other features such as auto EQ and multi-rate reclocking.
  • Bittree’s flagship products build upon the DAF32FX and DABFX cards by adding features such as small form-factor pluggable (SFP) interface options on each DABFX card, along with each client’s choice of fiber or HDMI SFP modules. These modules can be configured as an input or output, and the option of IP via fiber also allows the distribution amps to serve as on- or off-ramp gateways between SDI and IP networks using the SMPTE ST 2110 standard.
