As iconic as it already was, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum needed a technology upgrade as it nears its 100th anniversary.
The venue, home to the University of Southern California football team and one of the biggest college football stages, needed renovation and restoration to provide fans with the best gameday experience possible
Utilizing a fleet of Crestron devices, Rosendin Electric built a solution that enhances game day experiences and equips the facility with a solid technology foundation for the future with AV distribution and room control solutions across the stadium’s various clubs, luxury suites and lounges.
Luxury suite enhancements
In the Scholarship Club Tower luxury suites, 4K displays were installed driven by Crestron DigitalMedia technology.
Joe Way, director of learning environments at the university, says the technology is instantaneous and very responsive.
“This has been so important on game days because the system doesn’t bog down, and every suite can be turned on at once without any lag,” says Way.
The 1923 Club pays homage to the year the facility opened. It’s a rooftop deck on the seventh level that provides fans with a panoramic view of the stadium and the Los Angeles area.
It can be rented for presentations, parties and other events; and users have the ability to broadcast to all of the 500 displays in the facility.
Lower levels, clubs, conferencing capabilities
In lower level suites, guests can use the user interface running on Crestron TSW touch screens to control the displays and audio levels of Saros Sound Bars.
Numerous displays, a video wall and other technology in the Lou Galen Club creates an immersive experience with the help of Crestron’s AV-over-IP technology. This allows staff to customize video and audio content during game days and otherwise when the space is used for other events using Crestron AirMedia wireless presentation technology.
Other conference rooms feature an all-in-one DigitalMedia Presentation System and TSW touch screen.
Every suite is controlled with the Crestron Virtual Control platform that allows staff to deploy and update settings to every suite from one central location.
“We’ve redeployed and reconfigured 45 rooms in just 20 minutes ahead of game time,” explains Dustin Bransford, Audio Visual Engineer at Rosendin Electric, the systems integrator for the project. “In the past this would have been impossible to achieve this with such ease.”
