ATSC Announces 3.0 Broadcast Television Conference

Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) will hold day-long bootcamp and conference to promote new television technologies.

Agendas for both the upcoming ATSC 3.0 Boot Camp on May 13 and the ATSC Broadcast Television Conference on May 14 have now been published on the organization’s website.

Registration for both events is now open.

On May 13, the ATSC 3.0 Boot Camp features focus sessions on the architecture for the overhaul of the broadcast TV standard, including overviews of the physical layer, protocols and management layer, security layer, and applications and presentation layer.

Specialist groups will report on progress made on common system elements, modulation, coding, waveform, service delivery and synchronization, personalization, interactivity, advanced emergency alerting, and various video and audio services.

The program runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Interested parties can register here.

On the next day, May 14, the ATSC is scheduled to hold its 2015 Television Conference, including roundtable discussions on the future of television and demonstrations on the next ATSC, 3.0.

The centerpiece of the event according to the group is its “The Future of Television” Super Panel, moderated by Former FCC Chairman Richard E. Wiley. This portion of the day will bring together industry leaders for a discussion on the future of television as the industry adapts to changing consumer tastes, new expectations and evolving technology.
