Extron ShareLink 200 Facilitates Multimedia Presentations

Supporting the BYOD trend in the world of business, Extron’s new ShareLink 200 allows users to present content from personal devices, and the simultaneous display of photos, document and other items.

With the cellphone market completely saturated with traditional phone products, the industry has begun to push a new generation of smart devices, including the new iPhone 6 and the upcoming generation of iPads to bolster revenue streams.

The Skinny: Extron is leveraging the popularity of iOS and Android smart devices and the BYOD trend that has emerged because of it.

The Specs: The company’s newly announced ShareLink 200 is a presentation tool, designed to allow anyone to display content right from their smart devices. It supports everything from iOS and Android, to Windows and OSX operating systems.

Extron explains its ShareLink technology provides simultaneous display of content that includes images, documents and other media from up to four different devices. Content from a single device can be shown full screen, and content from multiple devices can be shown in four windows within the screen.

The system includes a wireless access point, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and front-panel mounted antennas, and Extron says dealers can set the solution up to create stand-alone wireless collaboration and presentation systems, or to add onto the wireless presentation capabilities of many wired A/V systems.

“The trend toward BYOD [bring your own display] use in collaborative and presentation spaces has fundamentally changed how we design and build A/V systems for meeting rooms, classrooms, and ballrooms,” says Casey Hall, vice president of sales and marketing for Extron. “ShareLink 200 is designed to offer our customers a reliable wireless solution that supports a wide range of devices and platforms, enabling flexible content sharing from smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops in virtually any environment.”

Extron adds the ShareLink 200 is capable of integrating into a variety of A/V systems through its inclusion of HDMI and VGA outputs, to support today’s digital media systems and older analog systems.

Solutions: The ShareLink 200 presentation system can be installed into meeting rooms, classrooms, boardrooms and other environments in which presentations are held.
