There’s no hiding now; the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has come to the commercial integration industry.
Then Chief Marketing and Milestone teamed up to accept the challenge. Laurie Englert, vice president of marketing, along with senior director of commercial sales Jay Rohe and president of commercial products Steve Durkee, stood fearlessly in front of their office building as other Chief and Milestone team members dumped buckets of ice water on their heads.
And it gets better. Last week CI received a suspicious tweet after this video was posted. It read, Who at @commintegrator got nominated by @Chief_Laurie for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
I’ll give you one guess:
It’s Ray Lyons, publisher of Commercial Integrator and sister publication CE Pro! Thanks Laurie! We couldn’t have been more proud. Would Ray accept his nomination?
If you know Ray, you know he’d never turn down a challenge. This weekend, Ray stepped up and dunked freezing cold ice water on his head in a video I might just keep bookmarked on my computer forever.
Remember, this is for a good cause! ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The Ice Bucket Challenge acts to nominate each person to dump a bucket of ice water on his or her head or donate to an ALS charity… or in many cases both.
This social media phenomenon has gotten so popular and widespread that even Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg have taken the challenge. And the ALS Association has received $79.7 million in donations (as of Monday morning), compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year.
