IMCCA Announces Collaboration Thanksgiving Webcast on UCC Changes in Pandemic

Published: 2020-09-24

IMCCA is hosting a webcast to discuss “how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the industry, how organizations responded and what can be expected going forward” on Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. EDT.

The IMCCA Collaboration Thanksgiving Webcast, in lieu of the originally planned UC Week Silicon Valley, will include a panel discussion by industry experts offering insight into what role the industry has played in sustaining businesses during the pandemic and what the future may look like going forward.

It will also feature an end-user panel that will share plans and experiences to better help attendees grasp the benefits of new working models that were devised to adapt to the unusual situation.

“The power and value of remote visual collaboration was tested and proven just weeks into the shutdown caused by the virus, as businesses, schools and other entities pivoted their conventional models of in-person environments to accommodate remote workers,” said Carol Zelkin, executive director of IMCCA, in the announcement.

“It’s a new chapter for UCC technology and our Collaboration Thanksgiving Webcast will bring to light the further benefits of remote visual collaboration as the many effects of the virus continue to unfold,” she said.

A highlight of the event will be a presentation of IMCCA Industry Impact Awards to UCC organizations that are deserving of recognition for their contributions and outstanding support during the pandemic.

Nominees for the Industry Impact Awards were selected by IMCCA executive board and board members. A panel of five independent industry expert judges will select three nominees from each of four categories, and the results will be announced during the program.

Categories include collaboration platforms; hardware and peripherals; integrators and service providers; and distributors and miscellaneous organizations.

The Collaboration Thanksgiving Webcast, to be hosted and moderated by IMCCA board members, is another of IMCCA’s undertakings to provide support and guidance for the UCC industry, said Zelkin.

Additional actions to date include educational webinars, IMCCA member pandemic video updates, weekly virtual social gatherings and others via IMCCA’s pandemic support page.
