Tripp Lite PDU Ethernet Switch Pulls Double Duty in Office Environments

Tripp Lite’s new PDU Ethernet Switch Combos incorporate power and networking switching all within a single product.

The Chicago-based company Tripp Lite is well known for its selection of power protection and management products.

The latest product line from the company expands on the functionality of power solutions within an equipment rack by combining two necessary elements in any modern electronics system: power management and network connectivity.

Tripp’s Lite newly announced PDU Ethernet Switch Combos series of products incorporate a choice of eight- or 12-outlet PDU and 16- or 24-port unmanaged gigabit Ethernet ports.

According to the company, the NSU-G16 features eight outlets and 16 gigabit Ethernet ports, and the NSU-G24C2 incorporates 12 outlets and 24 gigabit Ethernet ports. Tripp Lite points out that both models have green Ethernet technologies that detect the length of a connected network cable and adjusts the power consumption based on the length of that cable.

“We’re excited to introduce our new PDU Ethernet Switch Combos,” says David Posner, product manager, Tripp Lite. “They will help every IT manager accomplish what is always asked of them—do more with existing rack space.”

Tripp Lite adds that the 24-port model also features two Mini-GBIC/SFP ports for optical network uplinking to additional units, and the company explains that both products can be used in environments that include server rooms, network closets and just about anywhere rack space is at a premium.
