Chances are your integration or consulting firm is in the security business.
Even the companies that don’t have “security” or “safe” in their names are impacted by the converging worlds of IT, AV and security.
As such, the 46th annual International Security Conference (ISC) West, April 2 to 4 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, is poised to be one of the integration industry’s most important events of 2014.
The elevated importance isn’t just because of the 1,000-plus exhibitors showing more than 10,000 products and technologies on the show floor. What’s critical this year are the conversations and trends that seem to be redefining security technology’s role for businesses.
IP surveillance solutions have taken CCTV cameras beyond security devices and converted them into dispensers of invaluable business information. Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) has buoyed access control above a mere door protection vehicle and made it “big data” producer. In both cases, these developments have altered the role of the security integrator and often changed the point person within their clients’ organizations who hires them.
ISC West is about figuring out what all these security technology changes mean and where the industry is going. For those that are going to Las Vegas — and those that are not — stay tuned for extensive coverage of this year’s show.
