Just this past summer in 2019 there were a number of major internet outages that affected almost everyone that uses the internet day-to-day.
A Google Cloud internet outage occurred on June 2 which knocked service for most on the U.S. east coast, affecting third-party sites like Discord, Snap and Vimeo, as well as Google’s Gmail and Nest. On July 2, Google was hit by another outage as a result of physical damage to a fiber cable. The same day, Cloudflare was hit by an outage caused by a faulty code push. Apple also experienced issues when iCloud was hit by a three-hour nationwide outage, affecting the App Store, Apple ID, Apple Pay and Apple TV.
Mehdi Daoudi joins the podcast to discuss why these internet outages are occurring so much more frequently, and how they affect customers of the companies that have outages. There are thousands of businesses that rely on the cloud services of these companies, and when those services go down every business is left in the lurch.
On Episode 70 of AV+…
- We pass things off to our friends at the My TechDecisions podcast, where host Jonathan Blackwood interviews Mehdi Daoudi, CEO and co-founder of Catchpoint.
- Mehdi joins the podcast to discuss why these internet outages are occurring so much more frequently, and how they affect customers of the companies that have outages
The Commercial Integrator Podcast
The phrase ‘pro AV’ doesn’t do justice to all of the integration crowd, so we at Commercial Integrator wanted to create a podcast that speaks to all of those areas (and more!) under the umbrella of commercial tech integration.
The host, web editor Adam Forziati, has a background in radio and is looking forward to providing listeners with an entertaining, informative audio forum for all topics affecting the industry.
Podcast Release Schedule
We plan to release a shorter, single-topic episode once every week or two on Fridays (just like this episode). But at the end of each month, we’ll also drop a longer, in-depth episode of the AV podcast with features like Editor’s Desk, CI Monthly News Spotlight, CI’s Project of the Month, and more.
We hope you’ll share your thoughts on Twitter using the hashtag #AVPlusPod !
