The U.K.-based audio company Glensound has recently introduced its family of Glensound Beatrice Intercom Systems with Dante.[related]
Utilizing the IP-based digital audio Dante platform, the new systems are engineered to produce clear, clean audio, while providing installation professionals with a choice of easy-to-implement system solutions.
Glensound states the Beatrice Intercom Systems incorporate a choice of five different units.
All five units provide 48kHz full digital operation, power over Ethernet (PoE) , AC mains, low-noise microphone amps, and monochrome LCD interfaces to augment the Beatrice family’s Dante technologies.
Glensound Beatrice B4 Desktop Intercom
The four-channel B4 Desktop Intercom System includes the basic functionality necessary for small intercom systems.
In addition to its Dante capabilities, the B4 includes an integrated party line to enable any of its four incoming circuits to route to any of the four outboard circuits. The B4 also includes an external microphone input, along with 12-volt phantom power.
Glensound also includes a large-diameter loudspeaker with the system.
R4 Rackmount Intercom
Utilizing a 1RU form factor, the R4 rackmount system is a four-channel solution that like the B4 Desktop system includes a high-output loudspeaker.
The R4 rackmount system also offers other features, including an internal microphone, an external microphone input, a headphone output, and an easy-to-use call function to allow users to communicate with other people.
Additional features include an LCD interface, a presence indicator on the incoming audio circuit, and front-panel controls for volume, panning and incoming levels.
B4 Beltpack Intercom
Built as a compact and robust solution, the B4 Beltpack Intercom can be used for scenarios such as with production staffs who are constantly moving.
The B4 Beltpack Intercom incorporates four channels, a presence indicator to detect a presence on the incoming audio circuit, a microphone amplifier with a compressor, 12-volt phantom power, and a high-output headphone amplifier.
R8 Rackmount Intercom
Offering eight channels, the R8 rackmount unit provides integrators a 1RU form factor, with expansion capabilities to 16 channels.
Other features include an external microphone input, a high-output loudspeaker for clear monitoring, a redundant twin copper and twin fiber Ethernet interface.
In addition, the R8 rackmount unit also incorporates 12 loop closure inputs that deliver connectivity options such as control talk keys, and internal and external LS cuts.
D8 Desktop System
Sharing many of the features of the R8 Rackmount Intercom, the D8 provides additional features such as an onboard microphone, an external microphone input, and a large-diameter Visatron loudspeaker.
Some of the Beatrice D8 Desktop system’s additional options include a redundant twin copper and twin fiber interface, and a mixer matrix that facilitates more complex groups and party-line circuits that normally aren’t available through a Dante or AES67 router.
