People & Places: 3 Big Integrators Continue Push for Growth in AV Industry

Published: 2017-10-31

Earlier this month, AVIXA’s Pro AV industry Business Index showed that industry employment has continued on a three-month cycle of slow growth. For Diversified, Advanced and Verrex, the growth isn’t so slow.

Of course, it’s always promising to see manufacturers grow — after all, their growth typically signifies strong financial times for integrators. But what with our publication’s admittedly frank title of “Commercial Integrator,” it brings us the most joy to see actual integrators grow.

Former CI Integrator of the Year Diversified made larger changes in executive leadership last month with a new senior VP of emerging technologies, a new position on the executive board. And, as anyone who’s paid attention knows, this has been a busy year for Diversified in terms of acquisitions.

But this month, the second-largest integrator has created a new position, VP of strategic projects, to provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership around evolving technology in the media and entertainment markets. [related]

Advanced appoints Scott Murray Anderson to system programmer & senior AV specialist and Daniel Heald to project manager. The company says it has seen “substantial growth” on the integration side of the business this year.

Verrex grows in sales this month with three new members, all based at its Wilmington, MA office. The new hires include Masai Keels as AV account executive, Richard Legault as AV sales estimator, and Tom McNerney as AV senior sales engineer.

“This is an exciting and transformative time in Boston as well as in the audio visual industry”, says VP of global sales Bill Chamberlin.

“AV technology has drastically altered how organizations look to utilize both their space and their workforce. We have seen increased demand from traditional industries in Boston such as finance and biotech, as well as from a growing technology sector. We are excited to bring Masai, Richard, and Tom into this upward market, which adds an additional level of support to respond quickly and effectively to client needs. I look forward to their contributions to our global teams.”
