ISE 2018: Calibre HQUltra4030 Switcher Supports 40 Sources

Published: 2018-02-14

At the recently completed ISE 2018 show, the Calibre HQUltra4030 Switcher-Scaler was introduced to the event’s 80,000 attendees.

Calibre says that its latest scaler-switcher provides professional integrators with “new levels” of functionality and performance to complement its HQUltra4000 series product line.

“Our industry is undergoing a pixel explosion,” states Willy Tsai, executive vice president, Calibre UK.

The scaler-switcher supports as many as 40 sources grouped into 23 discrete input channels, with four program outputs, as well as an independent confidence monitor output.

“Our industry is undergoing a pixel explosion,” states Willy Tsai, executive vice president, Calibre UK.

“Not only are we migrating to UltraHD from HD[with] 8K on the horizonbut more screens are being deployed, especially in LED video wall configurations. Those LED screens are getting finer and finer in pixel pitch, but the size of the actual screen is remaining static so the total number of pixels per screen is growing exponentially with many LED screens now significantly exceeding 4K total resolution. That creates huge content management challenges. The HQUltra4030 responds to that proliferation of pixels, proving a breadth of functionality and a level of performance that is simply unequalled in the industry.”

According to the company, the HQUltra4000 series scaler-switcher is engineered to deliver perfect 4K UltraHD scaling via the company’s proprietary low-latency HQUltra technology that seamlessly delivers input switching speeds of 0.25 seconds in matrix switching with dissolve and fade transitions.

Calibre HQUltra4030 Expands 4000 Series Capabilities

The new HQUltra4030 models provide all of the features as Calibre’s 4000 series products, and they more than double the number of scaling channels to 12 (four main, seven multi-layers PiPs/layers, and a scalable background layer for each channel).

[related]Calibre points out HQUltra4030S model also provides eight 12G-SDI input channels and four 12G-SDI outputs. The HQUltra4030FS supports SFP+ 12G-SDI optical I/O.

In addition, Calibre notes the HQUltra4030 can drive any type of video display, including projectors, LCDs and LEDs in any fixed installation or rental/staging environment.

Scaled content can be distributed across all four outputs with perfectly aligned and synchronized images to enable the HQUltra4030 series to drive program surface areas up to true 8K/quadUHD (8192 x 4340).

Standard inputs include HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, VGA, composite, RGB, and H.264 streaming video. The products’ front panels also include HDMI inputs and USB connectors to provide integrators with easy input access.
