Since the beginning of the global COVID-19 pandemic, AVIXA said its InfoComm show was going to look a bit different. Despite a lower turnout than what the AV industry’s most comprehensive event would normally draw, attendees used this year’s event as an opportunity to get back together again in-person to strengthen and build relationships within the community. This year’s show focused on quality not quantity.

“To welcome the community back together in person has been incredibly wonderful,” said Rochelle Richardson, senior vice president of expositions and events at AVIXA. “You can see the connections, the networking, and the discussion points that are taking place, and the showcasing of products and technology on the tradeshow floor, but also in the education rooms. We started the course on Saturday with the three-day workshop courses and then we continued with our design program, as well as our conferencing and collaboration programs. And those were all very well attended,” she said.

Over 90 courses were available throughout the week, including AVIXA’s Certified Technologist Specialist (CTS) Prep Course. Many AV professionals took their CTS exams at the show, and a total of 44 professionals earned their CTS, 11 attained CTS-D (Design), and 15 became CTS-I (Installation). InfoComm 2021 total registrations came to 14,017, with 7,335 total in verified attendance.

AVIXA hosted 254 exhibitors spanning across 124,100 net square feet from October 27-29 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

“This year was certainly a different year, but it was great to get back together with our friends in the industry,” said Cheryl Walton, CTS, director of business development at USAV.
