AES to Host Believe in Music Week Event Sessions Jan. 21 and 22

In conjunction with this year’s NAMM “Believe in Music Week” events, the Audio Engineering Society will be hosting three independent sessions of relevance to audio professionals and enthusiasts. Free registration is available.

AES “Believe in Music Week” events include:

AES with We Make Events North America — Pandemic: Panic or Pivot

On Thursday, Jan. 21, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. EST, We Make Events North America will present a panel of industry professionals who will discuss the organization and its Sept. 1 event, RedAlertRESTART.

Panelists will also provide insights into how they’ve successfully survived the industry close-down.

Panelists include Ellen Lampert-Gréaux (creative director, LDI), Vickie Claiborne (training manager, Disguise), Tim “Quake” Mark (production manager and FOH engineer), Cosmo Wilson (lighting designer, AC/DC), Brandon Blackwell (production manager and FOH engineer) and Andrew Bongardt (monitor engineer, Clair Global).

AES with AudioNowCast and Carl Tatz: Secrets of Near-Field Monitoring

On Thursday, Jan. 21, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. EST, this session will offer insight into the world of professional monitoring, looking at infrequently discussed solutions to real-world problems.

Michael Rodriguez will moderate a conversation with studio designer and monitoring expert Carl Tatz.

AES and The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing Present: Organizing Chaos – Top Engineers Discuss File Management

On Friday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 5 p.m., industry experts will explore best practices and systems for music file management.

Panelists will be Jeff Balding (producer, mixer, engineer), Chris Dennis (engineer), Quentin Gilkey (mix engineer) and Ebonie Smith (producer, mix engineer, studio coordinator) with moderator Maureen Droney (Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing Sr. Managing Director).

This session was originally presented as part of the AES Show Fall 2020 Convention.

Beyond AES Believe in Music Week

The 2021 Audio Engineering Society (AES) fall convention will co-locate with NAB Show Oct. 11–13, 2021 in Las Vegas, both groups announced today.

The co-location “brings together the premiere convention for pro audio professionals with the world’s largest convention encompassing media, entertainment and technology,” according to the joint announcement.

The AES Show will take place at the Westgate Hotel, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center, where NAB Show will be held Oct. 9–13, 2021.
