Extron NetPA U Amplifiers Equipped with Dante Distribution Capabilities

Published: 2020-01-31

Extron this week introduced the NetPA U 1004 and NetPA U 1002 Dante-enabled audio power amplifiers delivering 100 watts per channel in a half-rack, 1U, convection-cooled, plenum-rated enclosure that includes rack mount hardware.

With the NetPA Ultra amplifiers, users “get all the advantages of (Extron’s) XPA Ultra amplifiers combined with the power of Dante network audio distribution,” according to the company announcement.

“Dante connectivity makes it easy to distribute audio from a centralized location to decentralized remote amplifiers throughout a facility, building, or campus using standard network hardware,” the Extron announcement says.

“These ENERGY STAR-qualified amplifiers also offer integrated DSP, allowing a single device to function as a complete audio system endpoint,” according to the company announcement.

“We knew we’d get strong demand for Dante connectivity on the XPA Ultra amplifiers when those were announced”, says Casey Hall, VP of sales and marketing, in the Extron announcement.

“It’s exciting to fulfill that demand and combine the XPA Ultra technology with Dante audio networking along with integrated DSP for even more flexibility,” the announcement says.

NetPA Ultra power amplifiers provide system scalability, easier installation, and simplified wiring, while meeting the stringent quality requirements of professional audio installations.

Audinate announced version 1.1 of Dante Domain Manager in September. This update to Dante Domain Manager “brings key improvements and new features to users and integrators: new flexible installation options, improved email alerts and notifications, support for SMPTE 2110 devices and secure access to LDAP and SMTP servers,” according to the Audinate announcement.

Dante Domain Manager software “gives integrators, AV specialists and IT managers the ability to better manage Dante AV networks by creating groupings of Dante devices called ‘domains’ – which are zones of products,” the Audinate announcement says.

Extron introduced the XTP II CP 4o HD AT 4K PLUS, an XTP output board with four HDMI and four Dante digital audio outputs, early in 2019.

The product is HDCP 2.2 compliant and accommodates data rates up to 18 Gbps for support of video resolutions up to 4K/60 with 4:4:4 color.

The Dante output adds the capability to take any four stereo audio signals that are routed through the XTP system and transport them as Dante audio over a network using standard Internet protocols.
