Ireland-based medical equipment maker Stryker was in need of a major AV overhaul, so they turned to integrator Meritec and distributor Visual Displays to make it happen. Stryker, a global player in the medical equipment sector, wanted to place retractable screens alongside its monitors in the staff cafeteria at its facility.
Ultra-wide viewing angles, bright ambient lighting, and the need for visual harmony alongside monitors were all challenges that Meritec and Visual Displays successfully overcame with this project, employing dnp Supernova Flex Classic Screens at the Stryker facility in Limerick.
Inside the Solution at Stryker
It quickly became clear that there were a whole range of challenges to address. Not only did Stryker want an elegant retractable screen solution, but to avoid visual discomfort, they needed the image quality to be compatible with that of the high quality monitors which would sit beside the new screens. Since the layout in Stryker’s cafeteria combines very wide viewing angles and an abundance of natural light, this presented a challenge for Meritec’s system designers. [related]
Meritec’s senior engineer, Chris Davis, turned to dnp’s UK & Ireland distribution partner, Visual Displays, for help.
“They recommended and supplied two dnp Supernova Flex Classic Screens, with best-in-class black levels and perfect color balance,” says Chris.
Meritec’s in-house design team then created a bespoke ceiling-mounted housing to meet Stryker’s request for a retractable installation. With a high quality finish and no visible mechanism, the screen appears to simply drop from the ceiling.
“We delivered the new screens pre-fitted into the ceiling mount boxes, with the screen drop pre-set to Stryker’s requirement,” continues Chris. “We were able to issue accurate drawings to the client’s facilities team and coordinate the install in a short period of time. This was really beneficial to us and the client in hitting the deadline for the project.”
According to Stryker’s spokesperson: “The installation was very straightforward and the end result is fantastic.”
