Emphasizing its California-based research and development (R&D) resources, Meyer Sound introduced the UP-4slim loudspeaker at InfoComm 2018.

A major focus of the Meyer Sound InfoComm booth was its commitment to developing the highest performing products through its manufacturing processes that includes hand building its drivers.

“We are talking a lot about how we manufacture our products, and the quality of work that goes into what we do in engineering, in component design and manufacturing,” explains John Monitto, director of business development, Meyer Sound.

“We make all the components in Berkeley, California, and the manufacturing process of each step along the way of hand building our drivers. Also all of the work that goes into our research.”

UP-4slim: A smaller footprint

Meyer Sound describes its latest speaker as a solution that provides a smaller footprint without compromising performance.

The UP-4slim incorporates the company’s IntelligentDC active amplification technologies, and Meyer Sound says its the first product it has offered to combine IntelligentDC and an aluminum enclosure.

“Today’s high-end installation market is driven almost as much as appearance as by performance, and the UP-4slim makes no compromises on either point,” comments Pablo Espinosa, VP of R&D and chief loudspeaker designer for Meyer Sound.

“When surface mounted, its understated appearance blends discreetly with any room decor, and where soffit mounting is preferred it will slide into tight spaces where other loudspeakers offering comparable performance simply won’t fit.”

More from the company:

“The UP-4slim’s compact footprint gives you the flexibility to project full-fidelity sound from tight spaces—from front and under-balcony fills to installed AV systems to theme parks—without blocking crucial sightlines.”

Here are some of the specifications for the UP-4slim:

  • Rated operating range of 65Hz to 18kHz
  • Peak acoustic output is 110dB
  • The UP-4slim measures 15.90 inches high, 4.29 inches wide and 5.69 inches deep
  • weighs 14 pounds
  • Installs via optional U-bracket or mounting yoke
