AV industry highlights for August include new sales & marketing exec’s at Verrex, Planar, and Atlona, while Shure hires for quality assurance.

It is now the third business quarter: a perfect time for marketing and sales boosts. In the past month, several large AV industry players have hired for sales and marketing advancement — among them are Verrex, Planar, and Atlona.

Ahead of its California office opening slated for September, solutions provider Verrex has hired Jennifer Brown as its first sales account executive for that state.

Brown joins Verrex with over 20 years of experience in the AV California market, including posts such as senior sales engineer at AVI-SPL, senior sales account manager at Integrated Media Systems, and senior sales consultant at Intellisys Group.

Jennifer’s wealth of AV experience and industry knowledge make her a key addition to the Verrex family. Atlona welcomes Remy Nguyen, who has experience in both integration and manufacturing, as regional sales manager, commercial, for the Southwestern United States. Nguyen has over 12 years of combined AV industry experience and will focus on Atlona’s IP-fueled business and technology transitions.

“The AV industry is in the midst of a period of disruptive change, with movements such as BYOD and the blending of traditional AV with IT technologies creating both new opportunities and new challenges for resellers and integrators,” said Nguyen.

Meanwhile, Planar (Leyard and Planar) hires from within with a big promotion for 16-year employee Adam Schmidt. The former VP of sales for North America, Schmidt now tackles increased strategic oversight and management responsibilities as Planar’s new executive VP of sales and marketing.

Schmidt joined Planar Systems in June 2001 and has held various customer-facing positions in sales, marketing, business development and customer service. Prior to joining, he worked in marketing at Mentor Graphics, and in project management for Washington County.
