Bluewater Technologies Group Announces Strategic Alliance with Felix Media Solutions

Bluewater Technologies Group, Inc. has announced a “strategic alliance” with Felix Media Solutions that will see Bluewater offer meeting and event support, access to retail offerings, and creative and software services to Felix Media Solutions’ customers.

Also under the partnership, Bluewater “will assist on larger AV integration projects for Felix Media Solutions’ new and existing clients in Texas,” according to the joint announcement.

Bluewater, based in Southfield, Mich., works nationwide in the higher education, health care, retail, corporate and banking vertical markets. The woman-owned company is “able to help clients differentiate their brands, enhance their customer experience and retain and energize their workforce,” according to the joint announcement.

The company won an NSCA Excellence in Business Award for talent development in 2018.

Felix Media Solutions serves multiple brands, enterprises and government customers in Texas, with a focus on Austin, where its headquarters is located.

“This alliance allows Bluewater to expand to more markets in the South, while providing Felix Media Solutions access to additional service offerings,” according to the joint announcement.

“Texas is a strategic market for Bluewater and we wanted to find an alliance partner to meet its fast-growing needs,” said Bluewater CEO John Tracy in the announcement. “In Felix Media Solutions we have found the perfect technology and software savvy team to address the AV and live events needs of the high growth Austin market.”

How Bluewater and Felix Media Help Each Other

Lionel Felix, president and CEO of Felix Media Solutions, says the company “has been looking for a partner that would share the same vision and values around how to meet the market and how to build an amazing culture.

“With Bluewater as a partner, FMS can be the best version of itself and help serve more markets alongside a company that embodies excellence and vision,” said Felix in the joint announcement.

Felix Media Solutions was among CI’s 2018 Fast-Growing Firms.

“We built this company coming out of careers in IT, so our TCP/IP expertise is years ahead of competitors,” said Felix in the interview for that coverage last summer. “We all can build systems, set up servers [and we] know networks, so as AV moves everything to the network with video over IP, Dante, AVB, IP control, we are fluent.”

Felix says that his small firm handles automation more efficiently than traditional AV firms.

“We have four Extron programmers on staff, one Crestron, four Biamp, etc. For a shop our size, we have more in-house programming and design than shops five times our size.”

However, Felix says his company isn’t an example of a low-cost competitor.

“Our prices are moderate and we pay our techs 25 to 40 percent more than competitors, but we have fewer faults and faster implementation times and fewer re-work visits. So, our labor ends up being far more profitable than an army of $12-per-hour people doing mediocre work.”
