The economy and its effects on various vertical markets were on the docket during the first of three “Live at NSCA BLC” podcasts that AV Nation produced in conjunction with CI during 2014 NSCA Business & Leadership.
AV Nation founder and host Tim Albright and CI editor-at-large Craig MacCormack tackled issues with BLC attendees Frank West of Biamp, Brock McGinnis of Westbury National, Eric Snider of Conference Technologies, Matt Chitwood from D&L and Steve Greenblatt of Control Concepts (read Greenblatt’s take on NSCA BLC here).

The backdrop of NSCA’s BLC provided plenty of fodder for serious dialog.
The episode took place after a presentation in which panelist David Danto of Dimension Data , speaking to a mostly integrator audience of 300, argued that integrators and specifying consultants often deliver system solutions that go beyond what clients actually need—suggesting that sometimes more simple and smaller “huddle room” solutions are more appropriate than custom ones.
McGinnis, from the crowd, challenged Danto on his premise prompting an interesting exchange.
The podcast group, including McGinnis, delved further into that issue.
In general, the group batted around some challenging issues, but at least McGinnis concluded that “It’s a fabulous time to be in the AV industry.”
