In the heart of St. Louis, Mo., a leading real estate development firm has redefined client interaction with its new Collaborative Client Experience Center. This dynamic, multipurpose space is more than just a meeting room; it’s an immersive environment designed to impress, inform and inspire. McCann Systems, the award-winning audiovisual design and integration provider, collaborated with the visionary experiential design team at Clickspring to bring this technology-forward headquarters to life. The mission was to craft a media-rich experience center that is as flexible as it is impactful, blending sophisticated technology with architectural elegance.
A Vision for Immersive Storytelling
The project began with a clear goal: to create a space where storytelling, collaboration and innovation converge. The client, a national real estate and design-build firm with a long-standing relationship with McCann Systems, envisioned an environment capable of hosting everything from high-stakes client presentations to hybrid team workshops. McCann was brought in early, leveraging a partnership built on trust to lead the AV design and integration.
Working alongside Clickspring, the initial planning focused on three core pillars: flexibility, seamless content delivery and end-user simplicity. The challenge was to weave a powerful AV system into the physical design so that technology enhanced the experience without overpowering it. This early alignment was critical, ensuring that the AV infrastructure would not only meet current needs but also support future growth with dedicated equipment racks and remote monitoring capabilities built in from day one.
The Technological Core: A Symphony of AV Solutions
McCann Systems delivered a high-performance audiovisual system engineered for versatility. The stunning centerpiece is a large-format LED videowall featuring movable vertical “blades.” This unique design allows for dynamic visual configurations, transforming the room’s atmosphere to suit any meeting or event. Driving this display is a powerful Analog Way 4K videowall processor, which serves as the control hub for routing content from numerous sources.
To ensure flawless, scalable video distribution, a 4K-capable AV-over-IP (AVoIP) system from ZeeVee (now part of Kramer) was deployed. This future-proof solution enables seamless content routing to the main videowall and other displays throughout the space. Content flexibility is paramount, with multiple input options including table-based HDMI connections, two BrightSign digital signage players, and a dedicated media server. This setup allows for scheduled or on-demand playback of everything from branded motion graphics to detailed project presentations.
Crystal-clear audio is delivered through a precisely tuned system featuring Shure wireless microphones, 1 Sound ceiling-mounted coaxial speakers, and subwoofers. A Biamp DSP ensures speech intelligibility and immersive sound, providing consistent audio quality regardless of the room’s configuration. For modern hybrid collaboration, the center is equipped with Cisco conferencing hardware and a 4K PTZ camera, all managed through a custom-programmed Crestron 10-inch touch panel that offers intuitive control over source selection, volume and more.
Overcoming Installation Challenges
The installation was a masterclass in coordination, executed in parallel with the broader headquarters construction. A key challenge was integrating the complex AV infrastructure with the evolving architectural elements, especially the movable LED blades. McCann’s team worked proactively with LED providers and fabricators to ensure precise signal flow and backend support without compromising the clean aesthetic.
Another significant hurdle was configuring the AVoIP network in collaboration with the client’s IT department. McCann meticulously mapped the entire video routing path, ensuring adequate bandwidth and switch configuration to deliver a truly flawless, plug-and-play user experience. All equipment was expertly installed in dedicated 44-space AV racks, pre-wired and tested by McCann’s technicians to guarantee reliability and serviceability.
