The Mesmerizing LED Display Prudential One Visitors Can’t Stop Looking At

Published: 2017-01-06

It’s tough to not be impressed with Chicago’s Prudential One building, as it is one most prestigious and historic buildings in the Chicago skyline.

What may be even tougher, however, is to not be impressed with the inside of the Prudential One building, specifically it’s lobby.

When visitors enter the skyscraper, their attentions are immediately drawn to the lobby’s 7-foot by 50-foot, 4-millimeter NanoLumens LED display.

Newly remodeled, the Prudential One lobby not only boasts impressive hardware, but highly creative, eye-catching interactive video content.

FEATURED REPORT

Pixelfire was employed to create unique content for the giant display, while Sensory Technologies was hired as the integrator for the project. Project requirements included the following:

  • 12-15 minutes of original content in the native – almost 4K – screen resolution
  • Content must be artisitc, ambient, stylish and exciting
  • Must provide a soundtrack for all of the pieces created

Pixelfire exercised its 3D expertise and created a time lapse of an actual size piece of graffiti being created and then brought it to life for one creative aspect of the project. They also shot drone aerial footage of Chicago to bring in another unique piece of content.

According to a Digital Signage Connection case study, Pixelfire says the most challenging and rewarding piece of the project “was probably creating an interactive piece that utilizes a Microsoft Kinect sensor to turn the motion of the audience in front of the display into part of the art on screen.”

With help from the dynamic Sedna platform, Pixelfire was able to pull off all of the client requests seamlessly for a budget Pixelfire describes as “far south of typical.”
