Barco’s Intelligent Display Network with X2O
Barco acquired X2O just over a year ago, and DSE 2015 was the first time the two companies have exhibited together at a show. Barco’s X2O platform brought attendees another interesting take on interactivity as they browsed the Barco booth.
Walk by one of the large touch screens, and it immediately senses your gender, switching content to show women’s clothing to women and men’s clothing to men (see the dress in the middle display above?). Attendees said the experience was one of the most engaging moments of the show, stopping most in their tracks to check out (and try to confuse) the display.
“Touchscreens placed in strategic locations will simulate a retail environment in which customers can interact with screens in order to browse through a catalogue and obtain detailed product information that adapts dynamically to its audience based on gender recognition, mood, and interest,” says Barco. “For instant customer support, Barco’s X2O platform also lets shoppers communicate with store personnel via video chat capabilities.”
Barco also says the tool will work wonders at collecting customer data, not only on the age and gender of users but on customer behavior and attitudes via facial expression recognition technology. Now only to perfect the accuracy (the display confused CI editor Chelsea Cafiero for a man about 10% of the time)!
