PlexusAV announced a significant milestone for its AV-over-IP (AVoIP) portfolio. The company confirmed that four of its solutions have achieved official Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) certification. This distinction follows the recent IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The announcement positions PlexusAV, the professional AV division of Sencore, as an early adopter of the verified open standards framework. The certification validates that these products meet rigorous requirements for transport, control and interoperability within professional media networks.
Which PlexusAV products are now certified?
The certification covers four key hardware solutions in the PlexusAV lineup. These products successfully completed testing to verify their compliance with published IPMX standards.
The newly certified products include:
- P-AVN-4 IPMX Transceiver: A versatile unit capable of both sending and receiving AV signals.
- P-AVN-4E Encoder: Dedicated hardware for encoding media onto the network.
- P-AVN-4D Decoder: Dedicated hardware for decoding media from the network.
- P-AVN-3-HDBT Gateway Transceiver: A gateway solution bridging HDBaseT and IP networks.
These were the first four products from the manufacturer to undergo and pass the stringent testing process.
What is the IPMX certification program?
The event in Geneva marked the first formal opportunity for manufacturers to certify products against the emerging IPMX open standards framework. The program is designed to ensure that products from different manufacturers can work together in a professional environment.
The certification initiative was led by the AIMS Alliance for IP Media Solutions in collaboration with several key industry partners:
- Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA)
- Video Services Forum (VSF)
- European Broadcasting Union (EBU)
Products that successfully complete the testing are authorized to carry the official IPMX branding. This branding serves as a seal of approval, confirming verified interoperability and strict adherence to the standards.
Why does this certification matter for integrators?
For AV integrators and end users, this certification provides a layer of security and confidence when selecting technology partners. It moves the industry away from proprietary “walled gardens” and toward a more flexible, standards-based ecosystem.
“This year is all about demonstrating PlexusAV’s commitment to open standards and scalable AV-over-IP design so this achievement reinforces our commitment,” says Steve Cogels, Global Director of Business Development for PlexusAV.
Cogels notes that the certification offers tangible benefits for those designing and installing systems. “For integrators and end users, this provides confidence that PlexusAV is a forward-looking technology partner whose solutions are built to work seamlessly within modern, standards-based AV ecosystems.”
What comes next for PlexusAV?
Following this initial success in Geneva, PlexusAV has indicated that it expects additional product certifications to follow. The company plans to continue expanding its IPMX-enabled portfolio to meet the growing demand for interoperable, human-focused AVoIP solutions.
