George was the classic mad scientist with his big glasses, big hair and rumpled suits.
One of my fondest memories is when he served as my tour guide through the Crestron offices about five years ago.
The PR and marketing people followed us around, cringing and trying to silence him when he just couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for erstwhile secret technologies, some of which would never make it to market.
He always had a big smile, and he made his many industry friends smile as well.
I’ll never forget my last visit with him in September at CEDIA Expo 2014. He was not well, and his family had urged him to stay home. But his big smile said it all: He was in his element, and you just knew he would rather be no place else.
George died of brain cancer, but he—and we—sure got a lot out of that noggin!
Rest well, my friend. We’ll miss you.
