Alfatron Electronics, the Raleigh, N.C.-based, manufacturer, has introduced the ALF-IPK1HE 4K Networked Encoder and ALF-IPK1HD 4K Networked Decoder, designed for distributing high-quality AV signals over IP networks.
These AV-over-IP (AVoIP) devices are engineered to transmit lightly compressed audio and video signals with minimal latency while maintaining lossless quality. According to the company, the system is well-suited for applications such as videowalls or television distribution in venues like sports bars. Users can also manage the system through the Alfatron App, which facilitates streamlined operation and control.
The ALF-IPK1HE encoder and ALF-IPK1HD 4K decoder are designed to handle input resolutions up to 4K at 30 Hz, enabling the processing of high-quality video content. With plug-and-play functionality, the devices are compatible with unmanaged network switches, removing the need for complex configuration. To maintain video quality, the units support high-efficiency H.264/265 video codecs via the HDMI 1.4 transmission standard, along with HDCP 2.2 4K copy protection. Audio compatibility includes MPEG4-AAC and LPCM stereo formats.
The ALF-IPK1HE encoder can be integrated into IP video matrix or videowall setups using the VDirector mobile control app for iOS. It features a built-in scaler for seamless switching and supports RS-232 throughput to the ALF-IPK1HD 4K decoder. The encoder also offers drag-and-drop preview management, allowing users to assign sources to displays with ease. Additional features include local audio de-embedding with line output and RS-232 routing that automatically follows video source switching, enhancing operational efficiency.
The ALF-IPK1HD is a 4K networked AV over IP decoder adopting the latest H.265 compression. Like the ALF-IPK1HE encoder, this decoder can be configured in an IP video matrix or videowall setup using the VDirector control app for iOS. This unit works with an Ethernet switch, eliminating the need to configure IP addresses, making this a plug and play solution. Equally noteworthy, the decoder’s integrated scaler is designed to achieve fast and seamless switching.
