Next month at CEDIA Expo/CIX in Denver, Commercial Integrator will present the annual Integration Awards to honor showstopping projects. The presentation is set for Thursday, Sept. 4. At 3:45pm, Dan Ferrisi, group editor, commercial and security, Emerald, will take to the Smart Stage, right on the show floor, to announce this year’s deserving winners.

Many Vertical Markets

Commercial Integrator’s Integration Awards program at CEDIA Expo/CIX covers a wide range of vertical markets. Indeed, there are 17 project categories for applicants to choose from. These include categories like Best Immersive Experience Project, Best Large-Venue Project and Best Corporate Campus Project.

“It’s an honor to announce the Integration Award winners each year because they show the best side of the integration community,” Ferrisi observes. “Our nominees and winners underline the fact that, today, integrated technology projects focus not on technology but, rather, on creating exceptional experiences.” He adds, “Whether they’re facilitating more effective corporate meetings or creating unforgettable museum visits, the integrators we honor are exemplars of how to do the job right.”

Independent Judges Evaluate Integration Awards Submissions

A panel of independent judges carefully vets each Integration Awards submission. The judges evaluate them based on the following criteria:

  • Quality of project buildout/installation, including challenges, length of time and interaction with other parties.
  • Assessment of how the solution has been received, including its impact on the customer’s organization.
  • Evaluation of the solution the integration company deployed, keeping in mind the unique features and benefits.

In recent years, winning projects in the Integration Awards have included showpiece installations from large firms like AVI-SPL and Diversified, as well as impressive work from comparatively smaller firms like Coltrane Systems and Midtown Video. What follows are some winning projects from last year:

  • Serving as a subcontractor for RK Electric, Logic Integration won Best Hotel/Hospitality Project for helping design and implement an advanced and user-friendly AV system for the communal spaces of the One Seven building.
  • Electrosonic received Best Immersive Experience Project for its work at View Boston, a 59,000-square-foot observation deck experience spanning two floors, elevators and welcome and finale areas of Boston’s iconic Prudential Center.
  • Bluewater Technologies won Best Large-Venue Project for its work at CFG Bank Arena, a premier venue for top-tier artists and events in Baltimore, which sought to elevate the fan experiences through cutting-edge audiovisual technology.
  • McCann Systems won Best Museum Project for Boston Bruins Heritage Hall at TD Garden, a 5,000-square-foot exhibit that showcases the legendary team’s storied 100-year history.
