In this exclusive Commercial Integrator interview, Dan Saenz of AtlasIED discusses the latest AV-over-IP market trends. Saenz serves as senior product manager with AtlasIED, a company whose portfolio includes audio, communications and security technology solutions.
Asked about trends he’s closely watching, Saenz says, “You’re going to see continued development of IP-enabled products on the hardware side. But the story really focuses on the outcomes that we want to drive.” And, he says, that means a continuing migration toward ease of maintaining, ease of designing and ease of implementing.
“And that’s really where you’re going to see us focus on in the coming months and years,” Saenz promises. “Really driving that IP solution and the ease of setup and commissioning of these systems.”
AtlasIED and Its Mindful Approach to AV-over-IP
According to Saenz, AtlasIED adheres to a very mindful, intentional product-development process. “It really is understanding how [we] lower that bar of entry to get a very easy-to-design and easy-to-implement solution,” he says. That means catering not only to people whose background is in audio but also those whose background is in IT. “And so,” Saenz says, “really developing AV solutions that are designed for customers who understand the IT part, but maybe not so much on the AV side or the audio side.”
Later, Saenz underscores the importance of repeatability and predictability. It’s not ideal, he says, when institutions are “…having preferences in rooms because one room sounds better or the experience that they have is just a little bit more appealing.” He continues, “We see things like that in our customer interviews, and that’s something we want to bring to every customer: an outcome they’re all comfortable with.”
And, ideally, there shouldn’t be a huge training curve, either. As Saenz observes, “Training is always nice, but we understand that, [for] our customers, time is money.” That further underscores the need for repeatable, easy-to-implement solutions.
