It didn’t take long for the fruits of Extron’s acquisition of video capture specialist Entwine AG to emerge in the form of a new lecture capture solution.

Extron announces Entwine EMP, and end-to-end software solution that facilitates capture, management and playback of media files from meetings, lectures and other live events.

After the acquisition in August 2015, Extron VP of sales Casey Hall pointed out that demand for lecture capture is on the rise across most verticals, not just higher education. “We’re seeing adoption in most markets including the corporate commercial side, so that’s very exciting to us.”

Entwine EMP reflects Extron’s stance at the time of the acquisition that it’s important to provide integrators with and end-to-end video capture solution. “We have been hearing from our channel that customers need to capture meetings and they’re looking for a system approach,” says Joe Da Silva, director of product marketing.

“A lot of times there is no software to managing it. We had been hearing that. So we’re hoping to provide an end-to-end solution.”

More on Entwine EMP from Extron’s press release:

With Entwine EMP, previously recorded media files can be added to the system, ensuring current as well as archived recordings are accessible from a single platform. Content is cataloged and optimized for distribution or VOD – Video On Demand playback, and management of content and devices across the entire enterprise is provided by a dedicated administrative dashboard. Students and end-users access scheduled or ad hoc recorded media through a customizable user portal or through a LMS – Learning Management System.

“Extron’s new Entwine EMP will handle all aspects of media management, from capture to scheduling, user and device management, processing, and playback. We’re creating a truly comprehensive end-to-end solution for lecture capture applications,” says Casey Hall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Extron.

Extron’s Entwine EMP works seamlessly with Extron SMP 351 Series Streaming Media Processors to record and process content. Content management features allow cataloging, searching, and editing across a host of media file formats using Entwine EMP’s administrative or user portal, saving time and effort. Integration with various external databases such as LDAP/AD, makes it easy to create and manage user groups and role management. Entwine EMP can also edit and enhance videos, including trimming, splitting, combining, and adding closed captioning.
