Opticomm-EMCORE, a leading provider of end-to-end multimedia distribution equipment for 4K UHD and beyond, announced the introduction of the new AFC-M-HDMI2 Micro-HDMI Active Fiber Cable with detachable HDMI-A adapter.

The AFC-M-HDMI2 expands the AFC Active Fiber Cable series, which also includes the AFC-HDMI2 with standard HDMI connector, and is designed for distribution of high-definition video up to 4K UHD resolution over much longer distances than copper cables. Opticomm-EMCORE will debut the AFC-M-HDMI2 at InfoComm 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida from June 17-19, booth 3579.

The AFC-M-HDMI2 is available in standard lengths up to 100 meters and supports HDMI extension from set-top boxes, DVD players, Blu-ray players and video game consoles to large displays, including projectors and 4K UHD capable TV’s. It is powered exclusively by the HDMI source, so does not require any external power supply. It features Micro-HDMI connectors for ease of installation through tight wall spaces and conduit, plus the ability to connect directly to mobile devices, or tablets with micro HDMI connections. With the provided HDMI-A adapter, it can also connect to standard HDMI sources and displays.

Opticomm-EMCORE’s HDMI Active Fiber Cables incorporate the latest advances in HDMI technology including 3D and 2K4K/UHD, plus deep color from HDMI or DVI (with passive adapter) ports. They deliver the highest quality audio including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio and are thinner, lighter and more flexible than copper or standard optical cables while providing transparent EDID and HDCP support without signal attenuation. In addition, AFC series cables are plenum rated providing fire-retardant jacketing for installation in plenum spaces, and they are much more immune to EMI and RFI degradation for stable performance in high-interference environments.

“We are expanding our AFC series of leading-edge HDMI active fiber cables with the Micro-HDMI to provide integrators greater flexibility, ease of installation and direct connectivity to mobile devices,” said Henok Tafese, Sr. Director of Business Development for EMCORE. “Our high-speed active fiber HDMI cables deliver cost-effective, plug and play connectivity for high-end video systems.”

Opticomm-EMCORE will debut the new AFC-M-HDMI2 Active Fiber Cable at InfoComm 2015, and will demonstrate both the Genesis XD platform for HD multimedia distribution over fiber and CATx/HDBaseT, and the HD4-E and HD4-D H.264 Encoder and Decoder for broadcast quality video over IP.
