For InfoComm is all about interoperability. During the show, Pexip showcased its latest products, which included the Infinity Connect Client.

Jordan Owens, VP of Architecture at Pexip, says that the Infinity Connect Client will possess all of the features its past versions have, including its support for group chat, ability to receive calls, functionality as a standalone client, support for new user interface and ability to easily brand a college or organization.

“Universities are all over this,” says Owens. “We’ve been talking to schools around the world and really want to drive development to maintain their brand for their service; they don’t want to promote Pexip. We’re fans of going that route. The new installable client is easier for them to brand.”

Owens says Pexip will also release an app that corresponds with the Infinity Connect Client, along with other new features, including two-way content sharing abilities, ability to participate in audio video meetings and the ability to receive content from end users’ devices.

“There’s lots of work going on in the back end,” he says.

Owens says that even though talking about backend functionality is not a “sexy” topic, the work Pexip put into the client will shine through.

He also says the company has put a special focus on improving audio features in the product.

“We improved our backend audio process,” Owens says. “We’ve decreased ambient noise, minimized loud-talkers, amplified low-talkers, and normalized everything. It’s a natural experience. You’re not listening to a whole bunch of noise; you’re hearing people when they talk.”

Owens says that audio is one of the most important pieces to a good presentation or lecture, and should always be high-quality.

“The reality is, having video is well and good, but if the audio isn’t good, the experience isn’t good,” he says. “This release is important.”
