SoundTube Makes Waves in Outdoor Audio with XT-Spyke Loudspeaker

SoundTube backs the XT-Spyke loudspeaker with an optional 120-watt transformer that incorporates a six-position tap switch with modes for 25.5-volt, 70.7-volt and 100-volt operation.

Now that it’s officially spring, it is time to think about outdoor system installations. Supporting dealers and their outdoor system sales efforts is the Overland Park, Kan.-based company SoundTube.

Adding to its product line, SoundTube has just announced its XT-Spyke outdoor loudspeaker. The two-way, weather-resistant column can be used for commercial applications such as theme parks, small stadiums and other types of outdoor events.

SoundTube says the speaker incorporates eight 3-inch polypropylene woofers and eight 1-inch titanium-dome tweeters that are housed in a sealed rotomolded enclosure that includes a stainless steel grille and mounting bracket. The Midwestern company also points out the speaker’s mounting options include a standard wall-mount and spike-mount bracket for garden areas to provide dealers with a choice of installation options to meet their clients’ audio coverage requirements.

The company adds it developed the product to deliver high levels of intelligibility with “good musiciality,” and it notes the speaker produces 120-degrees of horizontal dispersion, as well as 45-degrees of vertical dispersion.

Other options include a 120-watt transformer that features a six-position tap switch with provisions for 25.5 volts, 70.7 volts and 100 volts.
