ELK 6050 Wireless Smoke Detector Can Both ‘Talk’ and ‘Listen’

ELK’s new 6050 Sound All Smoke Detector utilizes two-way communications that automatically engages the detector’s alarm, while also alerting the central monitoring station.

The Hilderbran, N.C.-based company ELK Products designs and manufactures products for the residential and commercial security markets.

ELK’s latest security product addresses the smoke and fire category. According to the company, it is designed to provide the latest communication capabilities to ensure the highest levels of home or office safety.

The newly announced ELK-6050 Sound All Smoke Detector utilizes the company’s two-way wireless communication technologies to provide bi-directional alarm features in residential environments.

According to ELK, in the event of a fire alarm the built-in sounders of all enrolled smoke detectors are activated wirelessly. The smoke detector notifies the central monitoring station that an event is happening.

ELK points out the wireless 6050 provides the same features as a wired product. Through its wireless communication capabilities, the ELK-6050 Sound All also confirms that its transmission was received and it will then stop transmitting to save power.

Internally the smoke detector incorporates photoelectric smoke detection and it includes rapid “rate-of-rise” and fix temperature heat detection.

The smoke alarm is designed for use with its ELK-M1XRFTW Two-Way Wireless Transceiver for M1 Controls.
