People & Places: AV Industry Growth; VCA and Almo Pro A/V Hire New Leadership

Published: 2017-09-29

Sometimes, discipline and growth comes in the form of fresh faces. In the case of integration firm Video Corporation of America (VCA) that means bolstering project management with a highly-experienced candidate.

Michelle Gunn comes to VCA from Prysm, where she managed high-end video wall and collaboration solutions deployment for Fortune 500 clients.

Her experience pulls from many sides of the AV industry, including end-user, manufacturer, design/build, construction and architect. These diverse roles have touched on most every aspect of audiovisual systems, from presentation theaters to post-production editing suites and software UX design and programming, according to a VCA press release.

According to VCA director of technical operations Rich Wilkins, Gunn is loaded with ideas and capability.

“She is quickly establishing herself as both a dedicated asset to our clients and a respected leader amongst the project management team, as well as a key contributor our goal of perpetual operational process improvement,” Wilkins says.[related]

Verrex has strengthened its sales team in the Boston area, having added Masai Keels as AV Account Executive, Richard Legault as AV Sales Estimator, and Tom McNerney as AV Senior Sales Engineer. The integration firm says the three will match Verrex AV system integration, managed services, AV-as-a-Service, and onsite staffing solutions to Boston’s Corporate office-market needs. They joined a team led by Verrex Vice President of Global Sales, Bill Chamberlin, CTS.

Meanwhile, growth for Almo Pro AV looks a little different. They’ve opted to hire from within — a decision which compliments the company’s growing E4 AV Tour.

The new business development manager Maureen Mead started with Almo Pro A/V one year ago as part of the inside sales group and became “a valued resource for our partners and manufacturers, while earning her CTS certification,” says director of business development Rob Ziv.

“Her proven technical abilities and drive for continued professional development fit well with the BDM directive and enable her to apply the latest business, sales and technical techniques to every project.”

As business development manager for Almo Pro A/V, Maureen is responsible for coordinating sales and marketing efforts and delivering technical training for Samsung consumer displays and accessories and the Planar Systems direct-view indoor LED products.

The AV industry continues to show signs of business growth despite recent layoffs at Harman. While that news was a massive disappointment, some still speculate there could be a silver lining.

Either way, this list of businesses proves that there is still hope for those seeking employment in the AV industry: many of the reports in the slideshow demonstrate just how relevant new hires and promotions are in this seemingly unsteady climate.
