OnePrevent Software Predicts Fires, Floods, Emergencies with Wireless Sensor Data

OnePrevent predicts, alerts and prevents disasters before they happen.

Finding inspiration from a news segment, co-founders of OneEvent Technologies Kurt Wedig and Dan Parent set out to develop a software model to predict emergencies like fires and floods. The platform is called OnePrevent.

“OnePrevent does what other alarm systems cannot: predict, alert, and prevent disasters before they occur,” says the company in a press release.

Announced at ISC West 2017 in Las Vegas, OneEvent’s platform OnePrevent uses wireless sensors that measure temperature, air quality, motion and moisture to learn what what normal environmental conditions are for a building. Leveraging the data it collects to build a basis for normal readings, the platform can then determine what is abnormal to deliver potential risk information to users.

The preventative monitoring system incorporates a predictive analytics engine that’s embedded into a series of sensors. The platform can be implemented to prevent loss, improve safety and ultimately save companies money in environments that include small business, senior care, IT, hotels and residences.

The platform is based on a proprietary algorithm and a cloud-based learning and analytics engine that IoT companies can license.

“We developed this technology because we knew there was a better way to mitigate these tragedies and alert occupants of a building before flames and smoke appeared,” says Kurt Wedig, president and CEO, OneEvent Technologies. “As opportunity in LoT and building monitoring grows, there’s a potential to create solutions that can do more than just alert people to danger as it happens or after the fact. With our software engine and learning algorithm, OneEvent can help prevent a disaster from happening in the first place.”

Engineered as a flexible system, OnePrevent can be installed wherever buildings are at risk for destructive or dangerous events such as fire, water damage, gas leaks, or even unauthorized access. Commercial and residential dealers can deploy a OnePrevent system to help building managers, property owners, or homeowners analyze and anticipate the potential for these damaging events to occur.

The OnePrevent system consists of:

  • The OneEvent gateway connects each environmental sensor to the cloud where the patented predictive analytic engine lives. The gateway receives radio transmissions from the sensors and wirelessly transmits that information to the cloud via secure cellular connection, negating the need for Wi-Fi or other wireless transmission methods. A single gateway covers an area of 10,000 sq. feet and supports over 100 sensors.
  • The OneEvent multi-sensor smoke/temperature alarm features advanced photo-electric smoke and temperature sensing technology with highly accurate temperature detection. This UL 217 listed multi-sensor detects and sends independent gradient data to the analytics engine.
  • The OneEvent door/window sensors are adaptable for use as a perimeter or interior portal detector. The versatile contact sensor can be used in a variety of situations and reports its status to the cloud-based analytical engine.
  • The OneEvent multi-sensor presence detector supplies activity detection to the OnePrevent gateway and incorporates a humidity, temperature, and light sensor to further the OnePrevent system’s predictive sensor data.
  • The OneEvent water sensor detects water and sends data to the OneEvent gateway, making it a key component in flood prevention. The detecting probe can be placed in hard-to-reach areas while keeping the transmitter unobstructed.

OnePrevent is UL listed. OneEvent says in UL research testing, the system anticipated fires up to 20 minutes before smoke alarms went off.

The company underlines that the OnePrevent platform is not a fire or burglar alarm. It’s a supplementary solution that provides advanced warnings to users via predictive algorithms that are communicated through the cloud and companion app.
