For D-Tools, 2025 has been a year of significant growth and strategic advancement. The business software provider not only expanded its team and landed its largest customer to date but also secured a substantial eight-figure strategic investment. According to D-Tools CEO Randy Stearns in a recent interview, this infusion of capital and expertise sets the stage for an even more transformative 2026.

D-Tools CEO Randy Stearns on Transformative Investment

In his interview with Commercial Integrator’s Dan Ferrisi, Stearns details how the investment has accelerated the company’s plans. A key development in 2025 was bringing on an investment team that includes former Snap One CEO John Heyman and technologist Alon Goren. This partnership has already infused D-Tools with new talent, including AI engineers who are helping to drive innovation across the company’s platforms. “It’s been another like really solid growth year. We’re up 20%-plus, as we typically are, in 2025,” Stearns notes with pride. He underscores the company’s consistent upward trajectory, forecasting continued success in the coming 12 months.

Stearns also clarifies the positioning of D-Tools’ two flagship platforms: System Integrator (SI) and D-Tools Cloud. He describes SI as the “workhorse of the industry,” calling it an enterprise-level solution ideal for larger organizations focused on detailed engineering, in-depth project management and custom integrations. By contrast, he says, D-Tools Cloud is designed for businesses that prioritize ease of use, rapid onboarding and mobility. Both platforms are seeing accelerated development, with new mobile apps soon rolling out for each.

Looking ahead to 2026, Stearns outlines five key focus areas: an accelerated pace of product development, improved mobility, embedded AI, even greater levels of innovation, and enhanced data analytics and insights. During the interview, he emphasizes all of the company’s ambitious goals for the coming year, saying with a laugh, “It’s a lot to chew on!” Stearns then adds, “It’s been busy around here. It’s fun, exciting, it’s exhausting, but a lot of good things happening.”

D-Tools Working on AI Enhancements

Particularly exciting are the planned AI features on which D-Tools has been working. These include capabilities for proposal assistance, more accurate labor estimation, and risk detection to help integrators improve efficiency and profitability.
