In the UCC market, integrators constantly face the challenge to ensure audio is both crystal-clear and completely secure. Sennheiser addresses this with its latest Evolution Wireless Digital product, the EW-DX microphone system for corporate and higher-education environments. Michael Altemark, lead product manager for business communication at Sennheiser, outlines how the company’s latest technologies deliver premium audio quality, comprehensive security and simplified remote management for today’s complex meeting spaces.
According to Altemark, the EW-DX system provides a more personalized audio capture experience through its wireless table-stand and gooseneck microphone options. He further notes that these options offer “the possibilities that everyone has their own mic, making it a bit more personalized.”
How Sennheiser Built A Multi-Faceted Wireless Ecosystem for Modern UCC
Sennheiser’s strategy for the UCC space is built on an integrated ecosystem of hardware and software designed to work in concert, which is as follows:
- EW-DX Microphone System: At the core of the offering, this flexible system provides premium, low-latency audio transmission. It supports up to 290 channels in a single space and includes a range of receiver styles, handheld microphones and bodypacks to suit diverse meeting environments.
- Sennheiser Control Cockpit: This software acts as the central management hub for the entire wireless infrastructure. It offers a consolidated view for remote monitoring of critical parameters like battery levels and RF status. It also allows for centralized configuration, drastically simplifying setup and ongoing adjustments for IT and AV managers.
- Sennheiser Wireless Planner: A newer addition to the software portfolio, this tool helps guide system designers and customers through the product selection process. It creates a guided workflow to account for all necessary components, from transmitters and receivers to chargers and antennas. This further streamlines the journey from initial concept to purchase order.
Sennheiser Ensures Security for Sensitive Communications
Altemark emphasizes that for enterprise and government applications, security is not an optional feature. To ensure this, Sennheiser has engineered the EW-DX system with end-to-end encryption to protect sensitive information.
Altemark reveals that this multi-layered security protocol is a key differentiator in the market. “The complete chain from talking into the microphone to receive the audio somewhere in the far end is fully encrypted,” he states. This includes AES-256 bit encryption for the wireless link itself, as well as encryption for network control data and the option for Dante media encryption for the audio-over-IP stream.
