In this exclusive interview with Sharp Business USA executive Mark Miller, Commercial Integrator explores DVLED and digital signage advancements. In his product manager role, Miller focuses especially on DVLED offerings. Sharp is, of course, a display solutions leader across numerous technology categories, including commercial displays, digital signage and LED.
Early in the interview, Miller offers insights into top trends that Sharp is watching. “With direct-view LED,” he begins, “we can’t ignore the trend of all-in-one solutions that are becoming more and more popular.” Miller notes that Sharp is launching its own such solution this year. “We’re looking forward to rolling that out,” he enthuses.
Miller also points to an increasing trend toward power-friendly display solutions. “LED walls are large, and they take up a lot of power,” he acknowledges. “So, people are becoming more conscious of the power impact that those walls may have on their infrastructure.”
Sharp on All-in-One DVLED Solutions
Returning to the topic of all-in-one DVLED solutions, Miller says that Sharp’s offering is designed to be akin to a larger LFD solution or an LCD solution. As he explains it, “So, for those customers that are looking for a simple…maybe replacing an old projector, [or] they don’t want to run electric to the room or have data cables running to an AV closet, it’s very simple.” You hang it on the wall, plug it in and control it with a remote. It also has built-in audio.
Miller continues, “It’s built on the same platform as our PN-ME2 LCD line.” So, users going from space to space on the same campus will enjoy the same user experience whether using their PN-ME2 or their all-in-one DVLED.
