In an exclusive interview with Commercial Integrator on emergency communications, Jim Grass, VP of sales and channel at Singlewire Software, details the company’s latest hardware and software solutions designed to streamline incident response in educational environments.
The conversation centers on the launch of the InformaCast Wearable Alert Badge, a new device built to address critical vulnerabilities in classroom settings.
Empowering Staff with InformaCast Wearable Alert Badge
According to Grass, the InformaCast Wearable Alert Badge provides educators with an immediate, discreet method to request assistance. He then outlines the device’s primary functionalities:
- Localized assistance: Clicking the device three times triggers an alert for localized help during internal incidents.
- Direct emergency response: Clicking the device six times initiates a direct feed to local 911 dispatchers, enabling police to respond immediately to the building during lockdown situations.
“At launch, the badge is only going to be a available for K-12 districts to address pressing safety concerns and legal requirements, but we plan to expand to other [verticals] in the near future,” states Grass.
Comprehensive Software Integration
Grass notes that Singlewire Software also recently restructured its core software offerings into two primary modules: InformaCast Reach for foundational daily and emergency notifications and InformaCast Respond for comprehensive incident management.
He emphasizes the system’s interoperability with existing technology infrastructure, including phone systems, digital signage and collaboration platforms. This allows administrators to deploy highly targeted messaging during high-stress events. For example, a single trigger can initiate lockdown protocols inside a compromised building while simultaneously warning neighboring facilities to stay away.
“We allow customers to integrate this software into technology they already have to better communicate the daily, critical [and] emergency type [of] communications across the organization,” explains Grass.
