Audinate is addressing its Brooklyn II audio networking module by launching its Dante firmware v4.0 software.
The company says Dante 4.0 delivers critical support for Dante Domain Manager (DDM), alongside performance improvements and bug fixes. This release allows manufacturers to immediately provide field upgrades for existing launched products to make them DDM-ready.
The Dante 4.0 firmware is standard for all Brooklyn II modules shipped by Audinate beginning in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2017.
“The release of Dante firmware 4.0 for Brooklyn II marks the beginning of an era of fully managed AV networks,” says David Myers, COO of Audinate. “The positive response to Dante Domain Manager has been enormous, with implications and benefits for nearly all Dante installations.”

Audinate emphasizes that Brooklyn II v4.0 is an important component in the Dante 4.0 system update, which will implement Dante Domain Manager support across the Dante ecosystem.
The company points out that products running the v4.0 firmware will be able to fully participate in Dante Domains.
Through the adoption of the new firmware, which supports Dante Domain Manager, the newly introduced software provides integrators with features such as user authentication, role-based security and audit capabilities—and it allows for nearly unlimited expansion and organization of Dante systems over any network topology.
Explaining the purpose of Dante Domain Manager, Audinate comments the tool is a virtualized application that runs on Windows and Linux desktop and server platforms, and it includes web interface for user interaction.

Audinate adds the Brooklyn II 4.0 release is the first in a series of releases to equip the Dante platform with the necessary support to enable the successful launch of Dante Domain Manager. The audio company says that if manufacturers have questions concerning the software upgrades, they should contact their respective Audinate sales representatives.
