Bobby Croft Installs Fulcrum Acoustic RM Series for Fuller Sound in ‘Casa Croftorius’

Published: 2017-10-17

Making a name for himself as a bass player for the legendary Gregg Allman and the Derek Trucks Band, Bobby Croft is also making a name for himself as a producer and recording engineer.

Recently upgrading his Orlando, Fla.-based Croft’s Casa Croftorius Studios, the veteran musician added Fulcrum Acoustic’s RM Series three-way coaxial reference monitors, including the RM22ac Monitor, to his array of vintage recording equipment.

Meeting Croft’s requirements, which included tight imaging and fast transient capabilities with directional control, the RM Series speakers cleanly fill his larger control room with sound.

Fulcrum Acoustic RM22ac Monitor Gets the Job Done

Choosing a pair of Fulcrum Acoustic RM22ac Self-Powered Dual 12-inch Coaxial Reference Monitors, Croft says that he decided to utilize the Fulcrum Acoustic monitors because they delivered consistent performance.

“Fulcrum has the only reference monitors I’ve ever heard that maintain their tonal characteristics up and down the volume scale,” explains Croft. “At lower volumes they sound exactly the same, only softer, so I”m no longer tempted to turn on little monitors or subwoofers.” [related]

Croft Casa Croftorius Studios also employs Fulcrum Acoustic Temporal Equalization (TQ) processing.

Fulcrum Acoustic states TQ processing is an important aspect within the RM Series range, and it helps the speakers achieve their consistent sound quality.

Some of the RM22ac speaker’s other features include a 12-inch woofer with a 4-inch voice coil, as well as a coaxial driver array that employs a 3-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver mounted with a 12-inch woofer with 3-inch voice coil and a single neodymium magnet.

According to Fulcrum, the RM22ac Monitor produces a frequency response of 37Hz to 20kHz, and peak sound pressure levels (SPLs) of 128dB with continuous sound pressure levels of 122dB.

“With Fulcrum’s on-board DSP and Powersoft amplification, the sound is always clear and easy to listen to which is important as I can work for 12 hours straight,” notes Croft. “The vintage recording consoles, tape recorders and mics at Casa Croftorius add sonic warmth and character, and are game-changing products, which have stood the test of time. I can envision Fulcrum technology-driven loudspeakers being similarly coveted and cherished for years to come for their pristine sound.”
