Shure Designer System Configuration Software Aids System Design

Published: 2017-09-28

Earlier this year at InfoComm 2017, audio company Shure introduced its Designer System configuration software. Now available for download here, Designer System Configuration Software is a design tool that runs on PCs with Windows 7 and newer operating systems.

Shure explains the desktop software application was developed to enable integrators to better visualize and implement systems that utilize its MXA910 Ceiling Array Microphones.

“Before we had access to Designer System, a project actually took two hours of design effort, two hours of transition going back to pre/post sale just replicating the MXA910 GUI and data entries, then an additional four hours of field commissioning to configure, tune and finalize the audio system,” says Marek Walszkowski, technical operations supervisor, CTS-D, CTS-1, Diversified.

“After Designer, the same project took a total of one hour of design, zero hours of transition and two hours of field commissioning, since every task took place inside the Designer configuration software.”

Designer System Configuration Software Streamlines Design

Elaborating on the software’s capabilities, Shure states that its Designer System Configuration tool provides users with an easy way to integrate its MXA910 Ceiling Array Microphone into buildings and rooms.[related]

The software allows integrators to arrange multiple virtual MXA910 products on top of imported images that include room diagrams.

Shure points out that integrators can configure pickup lobes and other MXA910 microphone settings that can be saved on users’ computers without being connected to MXA910 hardware. Once the settings are saved, integrators can export their work as device preset files, which can later be imported into each MXA910 at the job site.

“Adoption of MXA910 has been swift thanks to its advanced features and great support of consultants, integrators and our other partners who have added microphone configuration as a step in their total installation workflow,” notes Chad Wiggins, senior director of networked systems, Shure.

“One of the challenges our partners regularly face is configuring multiple MXA910s for the best coverage of one room or quickly replicating a single MXA910 configuration in dozens of rooms. We’re encouraged by the positive feedback from our Designer beta test community, and we’re proud to offer this software to any integrator currently working with our MXA units to help streamline their operations, create better results, and increase profitability.”
